Appeals Facts

The appeals process can be lengthy and overwhelming. If you and your attorney are pursuing an appeal, let Lawsuit Hotline carry you through the litigation process with pre-settlement financing. We’ll consider giving you access to the funds that you need before your case is resolved.

After a lawsuit verdict, the plaintiff does not necessarily get paid immediately. In fact, it can take weeks, months, or years for payment to arrive. If the defendant appeals the court’s decision, delay in payment is inevitable. It is this delay that provides a need for Lawsuit Hotline’s service.

Sometimes a small advance immediately can help bridge the financial gap until your lawsuit is completely resolved and payment arrives.

Experience

Billy Karl Boone’s journey through the process of medical malpractice court proceedings began in 2000, when he filed a malpractice suit against Seth M. Goldberg, M.D., following a revisionary mastoidectomy on Boone’s left ear. Dr. Goldberg failed to fully inform Boone of the risks involved, and that there were more experienced doctors available in the area. As a result of Boone’s brain being punctured by a surgical instrument, he suffered a brain hemorrhage and became permanent disability.

Finally, in 2003, Boone won a $943,000 verdict. However, Dr. Goldberg appealed the decision in two appellate courts and managed to delay affirmation of that verdict until 2006.

Boone waited three years through the initial trial, then another three years during appeals.
